Theresa had always been an adrenaline junky, with a bit of a competitive streak. However, it wasn’t until her dad introduced her to the sport of autocross when she was 18 that she knew she had found her calling. From the smell of burnt rubber, to the exhilaration of speeding down a runway at the absolute limit, she knew she was hooked.

Unfortunately, racing had to take a backseat while Theresa pursued a dual Physics & Music degree at McGill University. Her physics background however has proved useful in better understanding vehicle dynamics and the way a car handles at the limit. Theresa also participated in McGill’s FSAE team, which was a great way to experience the build of a racecar from the ground up.

Eventually Theresa moved up the ranks of autocross, and in 2008 she took home a National Championship in the DSP-L class. In 2009, looking for a way to progress into road racing, she tried out for the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup series that had recently started. It was specifically designed for young race car drivers looking to get started in professional road racing, as well as promoting Volkswagen’s green turbo diesel technology.

Driving in the TDI Cup, alongside drivers with a diverse range of racing experience, was a great experience and one that taught her a lot that has carried through the rest of her racing career.

For 2012, Theresa and her dad will be joining forces with SoHonda Garage in building and campaigning an Acura RSX-S for SCCA’s ITR and STL classes.
