Hello. It's Alissa! Well I wanted to tell you about my life and how it has revolved around racing for as long as I can remember!

Even when I was in the womb, I'd been my Dad's biggest fan! He raced sprint cars for fourteen years, and I wasn't one to miss a single race!! After I was born, I went to every show, watching my dad through the good, the bad and the ugly! I was always by his side or in the stands screaming my head off!

My Dad has always been my hero. I still remember the joy I felt when I was standing next to him, holding the trophy in the winners circle, looking at his "fresh out of the car" look. SO proud to be his daughter, I would be furious when other kids asked for his autograph.

To be on the road to accomplish what my dad already has, makes me the proudest racer you can ever meet. Now that I am racing Outlaws Sprint Karts, with my Dad and Mom by my side, I am finally following his footsteps.

Being the cautious parents that they are, my mom and dad made me start my racing career in beginner box stock at age 12. I beat all of the kids in that class. by my age and height! So after a few races, I decided to move onto box stocks. Box stocks were a struggle, since I was still much bigger then all of the kids, due to my late start.

As I began racing YZ250's when I was about 13, I really realized how fun racing can actually be!! I was competitive since the kids were my age, and I really started feeling the power!! I won in this class after about 5 races. My first season racing my 250, I received rookie of the year at Lakeport, and second in points.

After a season, the power of the YZ250 wasn't enough, so I upgraded to a YZ450. It was a blast, and I got to race with the CR500s!! I won a race with my 450, and was having the time of my life. As I raced throughout the second season in my 450, I decided to move it up to the top notch. My dad set me up in a CR500 at Red Bluff, and this is when I fell in love! I have been racing 500's ever since, in Red Bluff in the winter, and Cycleland in the summer. Just recently, my family bought 2 sprint cars, which I will be racing at Petaluma Speedway during the summer. I am really excited to finally do what my Dad had done, and experience all of the fun of an 800 horsepower machine! I cannot wait to watch my career grow, as I try new things, and race more races!

Alissa Geving advances into Golden State Challenge top five point standings

In any sport, hard work, determination and perseverance routinely pays off. Penngrove sprint car racer Alissa Geving is witnessing the truth of that philosophy as she nears the completion of the 2010 Golden State Challenge Sprint Car Series. After a night of great success last weekend, Geving has officially advanced in the top five point standings of the competitive King of California Sprint Car Series.

“When I made the decision to run this series for the year my main goal was to get into the top five in the point standings,” said Geving. “I’ve made it to that goal. Now we just have to give it our all in the next two races and hold on to it. I’d really like to thank my team and crew for all their hard work lately. Our recent race was one of our strongest runs and I have them to thank for it, the car was just great at Marysville.”

For the first time in her racing career, Geving competed at the quarter-mile Marysville Raceway Park in Marysville, Calforinia last Saturday night. The event marked Geving’s first ever start at the north state facility and it was the first time in nearly a decade that the Golden State Challenge Series competed at the track. After many improvements to the facility in recent years, a total of 24 cars showed up to an exciting night of 410 sprint car racing.

For Geving and her Chicko Motorsports Team, the excitement started early in the night. In qualifying she piloted her Tillett Tool, Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordiero Enterprises #3x Maxim Sprint Car to the fastest time of the night. Geving turned a 12:423 second lap, earning a new track record at Marysville Raceway Park for 410 cubic inch powered sprint cars.

“Going out there and getting fast time was awesome for the whole team,” said Geving. “Then having it be a new track record made it even better. That momentum carried us through the whole night and hopefully will continue to do so when we get to Ocean Speedway next week.”

In the first heat race of the night, Geving started in the fifth position and drove her way to second place behind Golden State Challenge Series point leader and longtime friendly rival Kyle Larson. The fast time position and heat race success secured Geving a position in the dash for the night where she drove from the seventh to the sixth position. Her finish placed her on the outside of the third throw for the 30-lap feature event.

With the waving of the green flag on Saturday night, pole sitter Jason Statler and Larson battled for the lead while Geving found her comfortable line and raced towards the top five positions with the likes of Even Suggs, Bobby McMahan and Brent Kaeding. When the checkered flag waved, Geving ended her night with an impressive 6th place finish on the night.

“We were hooked up really good all night long, this place is pretty fun to race on,” said Geving. “Sometimes when you come to a place you haven’t run before it takes sometime to find the right line and set up. Not tonight, we were dialed in as early as qualifying and good for the entire night.”

After Saturday, Geving now sits fifth in standings and now has six top ten finishes in the Golden State Challenge Series . She has a pair of heat race victories and now one fast time award which is the new track record at Marysville Raceway Park.

Geving and her Chicko Motorsports Team will take a week off from competition this weekend and return to the Golden State Challenge Series next Saturday, August 7 at Ocean Speedway in Watsonville and then will wrap up the championship tour at Placerville Speedway on August 21.

Alissa Geving returns to Petaluma Speedway to bring home tenth career victory

With the 2010 Golden State Challenge Series behind her, Penngrove’s Alissa Geving and her Chicko Motorsports sprint car team are competing in select events throughout Northern California as the racing season begins to wind down. Last Saturday night Geving returned to her home track of Petaluma Speedway took home the victory in the All Pro Series winged sprint car feature event.

“It’s always fun to come back and race at home, I really miss this place,” said Geving, a two time Petaluma Speedway Champion that made history here two years ago as the youngest female to ever win such a title. “It was nice to come back on the last night and see a new champion be crowned, I can’t complain about the win either. I’m always happy to get one of those.”

After battling within in the top three position in the early laps of the race, Geving powered her Tillett Tool, PitStop USA sprint car into the lead of the 25-lap feature race when she skillfully avoided a multi-car collision that broke out on lap 12 of the event between early race leader Billy Aton and Mike Henry and Mike Benson. As the three drivers mixed it up in turn three, Geving avoided getting caught up in the incident and took a lead she would never relinquish for the remainder of the race.

Once in front, Geving was chased to the line by Geoff Ensign who finished second over Bradley Terrell and Brett Rollag. While Geving won the race, Terrell became the new track champion. Back in 2009, both Geving and Terrell dueled for the point lead for the early half of the season at Petaluma Speedway before Geving advanced in the numbers to win her second straight title.

“I really want to congratulate Bradley on his championship here tonight, I kept up on his progress through the year and he really worked hard for this,” said Geving. “I have to thank the whole team tonight for coming back here and giving me a great car to drive again. It’s always great to come home and get a win.”

Prior to the feature event on Saturday, Geving clocked the 5th fastest lap of the night in qualifying with a 13:054 second lap that clocked her at a top speed of 103:417 miles per hour. In heat race competition she finished in third prior to starting on the inside of the third row for the feature event where she quickly drove into the top three.

Saturday’s win was Geving’s 10th career victory as she continues to follow in the footsteps of her father Gary Geving and grandfather Leroy Geving. The season ending victory capped off a year of triumph and tribulation for Geving, who was recently named the 2010 Golden State Challenge Series Rookie of the Year. Geving is the highest finishing female in the history of the Golden State Challenge, finishing fourth in the overall standings.

Chicko Motorsports will take the next week off from competition as they prepare for the upcoming Fall Nationals at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico Oct 1 and 2. Following that event, the team’s schedule remains unknown.

Alissa Geving at Santa Maria Speedway

Two time Petaluma Speedway champion Alissa Geving of Penngrove continued her campaign in the 2010 Golden State Challenge King of California Sprint Car Series Saturday night. For the first time in her racing career, Geving took to the fast bullring Santa Maria Speedway in Nipomo, California for the sixth round of the traveling series for 410 sprint cars.

In her first venture on the high banks of Santa Maria, Geving was amidst one of her strongest runs of the year in the Golden State Series but a mechanical woe forced her our of the 30-lapo feature event just after the green flag. Despite the disappointment for the 18-year-old open wheel ace and her team, Geving still advanced in the series point standings.

In qualifying on Saturday night, Geving clocked in the seventh position, turning an impressive 14:042 second lap. The strong qualifying lap positioned her to later compete in the prestigious dash midway through the program to determine the fate of her starting position in the 30-lap A-feature.

In heat race competition, Geving finished in fifth place in the opening heat of the evening, further securing her position for the eight car dash that would determine her starting position for the eight car dash. The dash determined the first four rows of the 30-lap feature event later in the program and features the best of the best in an evening’s race program.

Starting in the seventh position, Geving fought off the challenges of Peter Murphy and Kyle Larson to secure a fifth place finish at the checkered flag behind Tommy Tarlton, Zach Zimmerly, Jonathan Allard and Bobby McMahan. The finish placed Geving on the inside of the third row in the starting line up of the feature event.

“The car was great all night,” said Geving. “I was hooked up in qualifying, did really good in the dash. I really think I had a top three car for the night.”

As the field was preparing for the feature event it was noticed that a bolt that mounts Geving’s brakes onto the rear end of the car was broken off. The damage was noticed far too late to make the necessary repairs, forcing her to call her night short due to the safety issue it posed. Geving took the green flag for the feature event, then pulled off the track surface. She was scored in the 21st starting position at the end of the night.

“Pulling out of the feature was really disappointing but I would rather be disappointed then be unsafe,” said Geving. “Fortunately it was noticed before we started racing. It could have been a really bad safety issue at speed. Now I get to go back to Chico this week so I am really excited.”

Despite the DNF, Geving advanced a position in the point standings of the Golden State Challenge Series where she now sits in the seventh position. This coming weekend she returns to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico to compete in the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial.

16-year old third generation driver becomes youngest female to ever win a sprint car championship title

Alissa Geving grew up in the sport of sprint car racing. On Saturday nights she sat in the grandstands near turn four with her mother Melissa and cheered her father, the competitive Gary Geving, to numerous wins and championships at Petaluma Speedway. When she wasn't at the track she was helping her hero work on his #3x sprint car at their family home. Since those early childhood days Geving dreamed of one day becoming a sprint car champion like her father. Saturday night, Geving's dream became reality when she officially locked the 2008 All Pro Points Series championship at Petaluma Speedway.
