3/05/05 SET OF TYRES DONATED TO CATH

Cath’s start to her 2005 season has impressed many. One individual, who wishes to remain anonymous, has donated a set of tyres to Cath for the forthcoming MRO round at Silverstone. At this high level of competition it is necessary to run a new set of tyres at least at every race meeting.

02/05/05 CATH’S FIRST PODIUM FINISH OF 2005

Cath competed in round 3 of the New Era Superclub Formula 400 championship on 2nd May 2005.

The second race of the day saw Cath get up to second position from eighth on the grid. A three way battle for first ensued and after an exciting race, in which the rest of the field was left behind, all three riders crossed the finish line within one second of each other, with Cath coming in third.

21/03/05 PROMISING START TO THE SEASON FOR CATH

Cath started a promising 2005 race season at Brands Hatch 19/20th March, gaining seven championship points and posting a personal best lap time of 53.62s. After qualifying 17th out of 30 riders, Cath finished a respectable 12th and 13th in the two 14 lap races on Sunday.

2005 PREPARATION

The 2004 season left me wanting to approach 2005 with a better all round package. The off season has seen me undertaking an extensive fitness regime, refreshing the ZXR400 engine and investing in Ohlins suspension. Four days testing at Cartagena in Spain was used to set up the new suspension and test Pirelli intermediate tyres and Bridgestone wets. A more dedicated approach to raising sponsorship and getting media coverage has been adopted as a necessary strategy to afford the costs budgeted for the 2005 season.

2004 PREPARATION

After selling the ZXR400 to recover some costs I was beginning to think racing in 2004 was not a financially viable option. However, where there’s a will there’s a way and, determined as ever, I managed to secure the loan of a competitive and reliable ZXR400 for the 2004 season.

On the off chance of getting to race in 2004, my fitness training programme restarted in September 2003, following completion of physiotherapy on an ankle sprain sustained in a crash earlier in the year.

There are also plans to spend four days in March on circuit at Cartagena, Spain, for pre-season testing.

My hope is that the preparation will allow me to improve my lap times at all circuits and achieve National licence status. My priority for 2004 will be to contend the MRO Supersport 400 championship.

2004 SUMMARY

My 2004 racing season contained its ups and downs. It started off well with some useful testing at Cartagena in Spain followed by promising first rounds, finishing in the points at the second round at Croft with a 13th.

A middle of the season racing incident involving myself and another rider set my confidence back somewhat and it took a few meetings of persistence and disappointment to regain the competitiveness I started the season with.

The determination paid off and I found myself back scoring MRO championship points again at Silverstone with a 15th place finish.

The season ended on a high at Donington Park with New Era where I qualified in 3rd position. Unfortunately I could only convert this to an 8th place but I was able to nail my race starts and it still gave me a signature towards my national licence.
