While most 22-year old girls are busy finishing college and planning what they want to do in life, Christi Passmore is spending her days in the race shop working on race cars. And her weekends are spent at auto racing tracks driving some of the fastest stock cars in the world. Passmore was raised around race tracks and Sprint Cars. Father Glen Passmore spent several years in auto racing, and at the early age of five, Christi knew she wanted to follow in her father's footsteps.

When Christi was 12 years old her father bought her a minisprint and disassembled the small race car. He told Christi if she wanted to race she had to put the car back together, along with convincing her mother she wanted to get behind the wheel. According to Christi putting the car together was the easier task to achieve. From 1994 until 1996, the spunky 12-year old competed in minisprints at the Port City Raceway in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1997 Christi scored her first feature win and finished the season fourth in points.

From the age of 16 until she was 20 years old, Christi competed around the world against some of the most talented Sprint Car racers in the sport. She became the first female to compete in Sprint Cars at Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sedalia, Missouri, and Little Rock, Arkansas. Christi competed in the coveted World of Outlaws division (WoO) where she qualified for the Knoxville Nationals twice and finished tenth out of 104 cars in 2001. Throughout her five years of Sprint Car racing, Christi accumulated 17 wins in both the United States and New Zealand.

Following her years of Sprint Car successes, Christi made the decision to continue on the path toward her ultimate motorsports goal - to race in NASCAR's top division, the Winston Cup Series, now the Nextel Cup Series. Christi knew that she had to start racing full-bodied, fendered stock cars on speedways to get the proper experience. She chose the ARCA Re/Max Series to gain experience and compete on some of the same tracks with the NASCAR Nextel Cup cars. Christi competed in the entire 2003 schedule while contending for the Rookie of the Year title. Throughout the 2003 season Passmore earned one top-five finish and seven top-ten finishes en route to her eighth-place points finish and runner-up in Rookie of the Year honors. In 2004 she continued to improve with five top-five finishes and ten top-ten finishes.

Passmore cut in Roush Racing Gong Show

"Sure I was disappointed. But it's not going to slow us down."

PRYOR, OK - Although she didn't make the finals, Christi Passmore is still optimistic about her racing career.

The 23-year old oval track stock car racer was one of only 25 invited to the Roush Racing Gong Show as part of an exclusive competition with the winner getting a fully-funded NASCAR Craftsman Truck ride in 2006.

"I was very honored and pleased to be chosen for this competition," she said. "To be picked from over 1700 contestants and get a chance for a NASCAR ride is great."

The 25 finalists were tested for their ability during a two-day session at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia. And while Passmore, who competes on a regular basis in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, said the Martinsville experience will not lessen her enthusiasm for getting into NASCAR competition.

"Sure I was disappointed," said Passmore. "But it's not going to slow us down, or keep me from working on my ultimate racing goal, which is to get a NASCAR Nextel Cup ride."

"As long as I keep a positive attitude and perform well, my time will come."
