Leslie Porterfield teams
up with Bazzaz
Leslie Porterfield, who was recently named to the
Guinness Book of World Records as the worlds
fastest woman on a motorcycle at over 232 mph, has
been signed an exclusive sponsorship agreement to
represent Bazzaz, Inc at Speed Week Aug. 14- 20,
2010 and the BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials at the
Bonneville Salt Flats Aug. 28 Sept. 2,
2010.
Porterfield, one of racings brightest
stars and favored to exceed her top run of 240.382
mph, will be competing on a Turbo charged Honda CBR
1000RR built by Al Lambs Dallas Honda.
Porterfield is thrilled to partner with Bazzaz.
Leslie Porterfield says: They are
definitely the leader when it comes to engine
management and electronics for professional
motorcycle racing. Its all about performance
and I can confidently say that they have the market
cornered in that arena.
Joe Buxton (General Manager of Bazzaz) says:
These guys are great mechanics. They
understand the importance of a properly tuned
engine and what it takes to build a great race bike
that will win races.
Buxton is also looking forward to increased
product development and the feedback they will
receive from Porterfields team. Buxton and
the Bazzaz team will be on hand to support
Porterfield as she hits the salt on August 16th, in
the turbo-charged Sir Speedy Honda CBR 1000RR.
This year Bazzaz is proud to join American Honda
Motor Corp along with numerous other sponsors as
Porterfield attempts to set a new land speed
record. Porterfields commitment to racing and
her strength have earned her the respect of the
entire industry.
Industry professionals agree that
Porterfields achievements both on and off the
track are influential in changing the field of
womens racing for years to come.
Porterfield is from Dallas, Texas and has been
riding and racing motorcycles since she was 16. She
has always loved a challenge and thrived in
competitive fields usually reserved for men. In
2005 she opened High Five Cycles and her dream of
setting a record at Bonneville took flight.
The road to achieving her goal was not an easy
one but she never gave up. In August of 2007 she
made her first attempt and was sidelined when she
crashed going 110 mph. She was care-flighted to the
hospital with seven broken ribs, punctured lung and
concussion.
Porterfield entered the Guinness Book of World
Records in March 2010 as the Worlds Fastest
Woman on a Motorcycle at 232 mph.
Where some would have backed away, Porterfield
was just getting started. Her motto of If it
were easy, everyone would do it, had her back
to the Salt Flats more determined than ever. In
2008 at Bonneville she set her first record at 209
mph on a naked (unfaired) motorcycle.
The record earned her the honor of being the
first woman in Bonnevilles 61 year history to
earn her red hat and be in the
prestigious 200MPH Club. 2008 was her year with an
unparalleled fastest world record of any woman on a
motorcycle at 232 mph. This same event was where
she first set the 1000cc production class record on
a Honda CBR1000RR.
This year, Porterfield is proud to be riding the
Sir Speedy Honda and is representing
American Honda Motor Co., Bazzaz, Honda Pro Oils
& Chemicals, Shoei, Ohlins, PMP, TCX, Dunlop,
Apex, Worldwide Bearings, Pompis, Fieldsheer and
Foremost Insurance at Bonneville.
