Silvia finished 22nd of 95 mushers and took home
$13,300 in the 2008 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog
Race. Ray Redington Jr assisted her at
Shaktoolik as he did several other mushers and won
this year's Fred Meyer Sportsmanship Award for his
effort. And he still finished 18th overall. That's
a true gentle man for yah and yes, they grow plenty
of them in Alaska. She didn't race in 2009.

Bio
Silvia Willis, 32, was born and raised in
Switzerland. Her interest in traveling and sense
for adventures brought her to Alaska for the first
time in the fall of 1997. That's also when she was
introduced to dog mushing. She says, "Working with
animals has always been my passion and after I
permanently moved to Alaska, (and married Andy
Willis) we started building a small dog team." She
and Andy own and operate a hunting and fishing
lodge from spring through fall and stay very busy
with dog mushing in winter. We also make dog sleds
and mushing equipment.
