Between races Dana works as an Assistant Teacher at a Dublin pre-school. She currently attends Columbus State Community College working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree and looks to someday open her own pre-school. In what little spare time she has left, Dana enjoys music, movies and activities with a wide circle of friends.

After two years in the very competitive Mid State Ohio Kart Club 4-cycle classes, Dana moved into the quicker 2-cycle categories and continued to develop her racing skills. Possessing exceptional focus and concentration, Dana rarely makes a mistake under pressure. In 2003 she had plenty of pressure to deal with as she found herself in contention for the MSOKC HPV Class championship. Also in that first year of 2-cycle racing, she finished third in the Great Lakes Sprint Series divisional championship. In fact, her first and only Divisional win came in that series during a downpour at BeaveRun Motorsports Complex.

2004 saw her successfully defend her MSOKC title winning the tight championship by only 2 points. In December of '04 Dana participated in the invitation only Lyn St. James Foundation Driver Development Program acquiring training media relations, mental preparation and physical conditioning to enhance her career in motorsports.

In 2005 Dana moved up to the new TaG 125cc class and although the team was hampered by the development of the new motor, she still managed to finish second in the MSOKC championship. It was also in 2005 that Dana got her first taste of endurance racing teamed up with her sister and two other female drivers to race the TaG 200 Mile race at New Castle Motorsports Park.
